THE GIANT CRUSHED CANS SERIES
The French Girl examines the poetry of the ordinary, redefining contemporary consumer culture through alchemy of form and material. In her hands, the humble aluminum can—an emblem of fleeting modern life, an icon of urban nightlife and street ritual—is immortalized in bronze, a medium of legacy and reverence. This metamorphosis from disposable to enduring not only questions societal hierarchies of worth but also transfigures street iconography into objects of contemplation.
The Giant Crushed Cans series monumentalizes this ubiquitous artifact of urbanity, freezing its crushed form in enduring bronze. The transformation invites discourse on sustainability, collective memory, and the absurdity of cultural preservation. By conflating industrial waste with classical craftsmanship, the artist destabilizes perceptions of worth and invites a meditation on what deserves permanence in the Anthropocene era.
The series comprises limited-edition bronze sculptures (4 + 4 AP). Currently on view in a curated public art initiative with Swire Properties Group. For institutional or private acquisition inquiries, please liaise with the artist’s studio.
